Who are you and how did you get in my house?
Hi! My friends call me Raul but online I go by the moniker: Noktiq
Lets start from what you already know and work backwards from there
You probably know me from my YouTube animations about game development, less likely you’re here from the game development articles I occasionally write. I’ve been messing around creatively from a young age and since then have experimented with different mediums before landing on game development. I find it wraps up many of my other interests, letting me get away with being a “jack of all trades” type.
I switched my major halfway through Uni and dove headfirst into studying game development. Made some friends and picked up a ton of skills along the way, most of it self-taught—a complaint I’ve also had my comp-sci buddies echo. I think there’s just always tension between traditional schoolings static nature and the dynamism of tech fields. Anywho, I freelanced video editing throughout school for some extra cash and after some time and multiple all-nighters I finally graduated. Shortly after I found myself amidst the worst layoffs in the industry’s history
So there I was, receiving my diploma through the mail on a cold Wednesday afternoon, what is one to do with all this excess energy, free time, and love of videogames?
The NOKTIQ Project
In many ways, this project felt like the logical next step for me. It allows me to merge various projects I’ve experimented with throughout the years. Using my education in game development, my character animation phase in high school, and my experience in freelancing video editing throughout university.
While I don’t boast supremacy in any one area, their fusion puts me in a unique position to try out fun multimedia projects. So that’s what I’m going to do
